Synthflow review: an enterprise voice AI platform, not a small-business plan

Synthflow now sells AI phone agents only on annual enterprise contracts. What that means for a small business, what you get, and which AI receptionists fit instead.

Synthflow builds AI phone agents for contact centers, outsourced call centers and multi-location brands. If you’ve read older articles recommending it as an affordable, no-code way for a small business to build an AI receptionist, they’re out of date. Synthflow no longer sells self-serve plans or per-minute rates to new customers. Every new deployment starts on an annual Enterprise contract, quoted by sales after a scoping call (Synthflow on voice AI cost).

So this review is short on the question most owners arrive with. Can a plumber, a dental office or a small law firm sign up and try it? No. What follows is what Synthflow offers, who it suits, and where a small business should look instead.

What you get on an Enterprise contract

The contract is scoped to your call volume, telephony, integrations, security review and support terms (pricing). There is no free plan, no trial and no published price. Synthflow’s forward-deployed engineers can build and launch the agents with you, and it says deployments go live in weeks, depending on integrations, your phone system and the security review.

The agents themselves are capable. They’re designed in a visual Flow Designer (Flow Designer), and can:

  • answer and make calls;
  • book appointments through Cal.com or GoHighLevel;
  • transfer to your staff with the transcript so far;
  • send texts after a call;
  • speak 30+ languages and switch language mid-call (supported languages).

Synthflow’s AI receptionist page names healthcare, law, real estate and home services as fits (Synthflow AI receptionist). It signs a HIPAA BAA, lists SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001, and hosts data in the US or EU.

For phones, you can buy numbers through Synthflow in the US, Canada and Australia at $1.50 a month each, connect your own Twilio account, or keep your current carrier or phone system over SIP (telephony). It also connects to contact-center phone systems such as Five9, RingCentral, 8x8 and Zoom, and to CRMs including Salesforce, HubSpot and Zoho.

Who Synthflow suits

  • Contact centers and outsourced call centers that want AI agents inside their existing phone system.
  • Multi-location brands with enough volume to justify an annual contract and a security review.
  • Software platforms and resellers that want white-label voice agents under their own name; white-label workspaces come with the enterprise agreement.

For those buyers, a vendor whose engineers build the agents with you is the point, not a drawback.

Why it doesn’t fit a single small business

Consider what a small business is usually buying: answers for 200 calls a month at about 3 minutes each, booked into a calendar, with urgent calls passed to the owner. That’s around 600 minutes a month.

Against that need, Synthflow asks for an annual commitment, a sales process, and a launch measured in weeks, without a trial. Even if the quote were reasonable, the process is built for a company with an IT or operations team.

Ready-made AI receptionists publish prices you can see before you talk to anyone:

  • Rosie covers 1,000 minutes for $149 a month.
  • Dialzara covers 500 minutes for $199 a month, about $239 at 600 minutes with its $0.40 overage, and has a 7-day free trial.
  • Upfirst covers 300 calls for $159.95 a month.

All three answer, text, transfer and book appointments without anything to build. Our AI receptionist pricing guide works through more examples.

If you want to build your own agent with pay-as-you-go pricing, self-serve platforms are still open: Retell AI charges about $0.07 to $0.31 a minute and has an Auto Receptionist setup that starts from your website, and Vapi is aimed at developers. Bland AI has a free plan at $0.14 a minute.

How it compares

vs Retell AI and Vapi. Both are pay-as-you-go platforms you can start on today, with no contract. You do the building. Synthflow builds it with you, on an annual contract.

vs Bland AI. The closest match in approach: both pitch enterprises and offer engineers who help build the agent. Bland still has a free self-serve plan; Synthflow doesn’t.

Verdict

Synthflow is a credible choice for contact centers, multi-location brands and resellers who want a vendor to build and launch AI phone agents inside their existing systems, with HIPAA, ISO 27001 and US or EU hosting. It is no longer a product a small business can sign up for. If you need your phones answered, start with the best AI receptionists for small business; if you want to build, start with Retell AI or Vapi.
