Sameday AI review: AI phone answering for home service companies
Sameday AI answers calls for HVAC, plumbing and pest control shops and books jobs into ServiceTitan or Jobber. What $449 or $789 a month buys, and who it suits.
Sameday AI sells AI customer service reps for home service trades: HVAC, plumbing, electrical, pest control, roofing, cleaning and similar. The AI answers your overflow, after-hours and missed calls, books the job straight into your field-service software, texts the customer, and hands the call to your staff when your rules say a person should take it (Sameday AI CSRs).
What sets it apart from most tools aimed at the trades is that it publishes prices. Plans start at $449 a month for 500 minutes (pricing).

Who it’s for
Sameday fits a shop that already runs ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, FieldRoutes or Service Fusion and loses jobs when nobody picks up. Typical cases are a plumbing company whose office closes at 5 while emergencies don’t, or an HVAC business that drowns in calls on the first hot week of summer.
It fits less well if you are a solo operator taking a handful of calls a week. The entry plan is built for a team (three locations and your whole team are included), and $449 a month is a lot to pay for 20 calls.
What callers hear
Callers reach an AI rep that answers in English or Spanish on every plan. It answers questions using your service area and pricing rules, books the job into an open slot in your field-service software, and keeps the customer up to date by text. When a call meets a trigger you set, such as a high job value or a certain time of day, it passes the call to your staff with a summary so they don’t start from zero.
On the Scale plan you can clone a voice, for example the owner’s, with that person’s written consent.
What it costs at real call volumes
There are two published plans plus Enterprise:
- Launch, $449 a month for 500 minutes, is pitched at after-hours and weekend calls. That works out to about $0.90 per included minute.
- Scale, $789 a month for 1,000 minutes, is pitched at answering 24/7, including surges. About $0.79 per included minute.
Overage is billed at a per-minute or per-message rate that Sameday doesn’t publish, which is the biggest gap in an otherwise clear price list.
Take 200 calls a month at about 3 minutes each: 600 minutes. Launch covers 500, leaving 100 minutes at the unpublished overage rate. Scale covers it with 400 minutes to spare, at $789, or about $3.95 a call. If your volume is near 500 minutes and climbing, ask for the overage rate on the demo and do the sum; Scale may be the cheaper plan.
For an after-hours-only setup, the math is kinder. If the AI only takes evenings and weekends, say 100 calls at 3 minutes, Launch covers it with room to spare, at about $4.50 a call.
Compare that with Avoca, the other well-known AI front office for the trades. Avoca doesn’t publish prices; a competitor’s survey of shared quotes puts its entry tier at about $1,100 a month for 1,000 minutes plus a $600 setup fee (Upfirst). Against that, Sameday’s $789 for the same 1,000 minutes is a meaningful saving.
Setup and contracts
There is no self-serve signup: every plan starts with a demo call. Sameday doesn’t publish contract terms, setup fees or a free trial, so ask about all three before you commit. You keep your existing number by forwarding or porting it, so customers keep calling the number on your trucks.
What it books into
This is Sameday’s strongest point. It books jobs directly into ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, Jobber, FieldRoutes and Service Fusion, and lists integrations with FieldPulse, AccuLynx, JobNimbus, Maid Central, Thumbtack, Google Local Services and Angi (Sameday’s comparison page). A generic AI receptionist that only books into Google Calendar leaves your dispatcher retyping jobs; Sameday puts them on the board.
What else comes with it
Sameday is more than an answering bot. It includes a business phone system with call queues, ring groups and after-hours menus, outbound campaigns for reactivation and estimate follow-up, AI coaching on your own CSRs’ calls, and an iOS app (App Store). Calls are recorded and logged for review. If you already pay for a separate phone system, check whether Sameday could replace it, which changes the real cost.
Enterprise adds more languages, advanced analytics, hands-on training, API access and custom integrations.
How it compares
vs Avoca. Both target established trades on ServiceTitan. Avoca’s selling point is its own team of human CSRs who take the calls its AI can’t finish. Sameday publishes its prices; Avoca’s come only from third-party quotes and appear higher.
vs Abby Connect. Abby pairs AI with live receptionists, and its plans are month to month with a free trial. It doesn’t list field-service software, and its AI minutes cost about $1.38 to $1.65, roughly double Sameday’s.
vs general AI receptionists. Check whether they book into your field-service software or only a calendar. See our best AI receptionists for home services for the full comparison.
Verdict
Sameday AI is a strong pick for a home service business that runs on field-service software and wants after-hours and overflow calls turned into booked jobs. Its published prices, English and Spanish on every plan, and direct booking into ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro and Jobber are exactly what most competitors in the trades hide behind a demo. Before signing, get the overage rate, contract length and any setup fee in writing, and pick the plan from your real minute count rather than your call count.
